Tri-Fold Shutter Cards

One of my "resolutions" this year had to do with my crafting.  I decided that I wanted to spend more time making cards.  I just finished teaching a workshop called "Box Them Up" where I created 4 cards per paper style.  I also have been trying new ways to make cards.  By that I mean, be more "out of the box" -- at least for me!

I decided to try the Tri-Fold Shutter Card.  I have seen so many in different magazines.  It seems everywhere I looked, I saw them.  I searched the web for templates and ended up in one of my favorite places:  Splitcoaststampers.com! I found a tutorial to print out and began working.  Coincidentally, a new "crafty" on-line friend of mine had just posted that she was trying it too.  She was MUCH quicker than me in posting her pic.  Her blog is called "Ricketts Cricuts" if you want to check our her pics!

Anyway!  I tried to follow the tutorial that I printed out but the directions were different from the video so I ended up making my own template.  Here's the first card I made:

This first picture shows the card folded up for mailing.  It measures 4 x 5 1/2" so it will fit in a standard A2 envelope.

This second picture shows it unfolded!  Cool - right??  I used CTMH Wings paper and a stamp set called "Friendship" which was the February Stamp of the Month.

Since I figured out the template, I decided to make another shutter card.  This time I used CTMH paper called "Olivia" and a stamp set called "Find Your Style" - the January Stamp of the Month.  Here are some pictures:
