Scrappy Birthday Blog Hop

Gosh, I can't believe that it's been this long since I've posted on my blog!  Life just got in the way -- family was in town, work, hurt my back, etc., etc.

I'm so glad to be back AND to be participating in April's Scrappy Birthday Blog Hop.  This is the very first Scrappy Birthday Blog Hop celebrating April’s favorite color - GREEN!

If you are coming from Stephanie's blog you’re on the right track. If you just joined us, you can go back to the beginning HERE and hop along with us. We’ve had so much fun doing this hop, and we have a wonderful line up with some oh-so-talented creators. You will see some lovely projects and have a chance to win some blog candy along the way, including a fun grand prize for this hop.

This hop runs all day on April 30th, so you have plenty of time to check out each project!

So, here's my birthday project.  I made a birthday card:

I used a Close to My Heart stamp set called Birthday Blast. It's a new stamp set from the 2011 Autumn/Winter Idea Book.

April loves "green" so not only did I make sure I used green colored paper, I also was "green" when I created the card.  I used pieces of cardstock and designer paper that I had leftover from another project!  The paper was from the Miracle paper line.  It's really pretty paper.

I used a new technique that I learned called "Bargello Technique".  It's a technique needlepointers use to make a background.  I found a tutorial through Splitcoaststampers Gallery.  You use strips of paper with 3-4 different patterns.  Here's a couple of close-up pictures showing the pattern.

This is the first time I have used this technique.  I think I like the card overall but the next time I do this I think I would make the background pattern or design more pronounced.  Anyway, I hope you like it!

What would a birthday be without gifts? This gift could be yours because there is also an overall grand prize just for hopping with us!  The grand prize is sponsored by April from Curls and Grins (the first blog on the hop). In order to be eligible for the grand prize you must leave a comment on every blog in the hop and become a follower of April’s blog.  Here's a list of all the blogs participating in our hop:
