Using My Cricut Carts

Good morning!  For today's projects, I decided to use a couple of different Cricut cartridges since I haven't been using what I have.  I chose 3 Cricut cartridges to use:  Elmo's Party, Going Places, and 50 States.  I really wanted to try and create something using ALL 3 in one BUT I just wasn't feeling it.  Soooo, I ended up with 2 different creations :)

The first I will show you is a card I made using Elmo's Party and Going Places:

As you can see, I not only designed the outside of the card, but also the inside of the card!  Other than the sentiment "Smile", I haven't added anything else since I'm not sure what I would use this card for.  It could be for a thank you, birthday, thinking of you, congratulations, etc.  I think it will join my card "stash" for when I need cards.

Now for the recipe:

I used Going Places Cricut cartridge for the actual card shape itself. You can find the image on page 111, C10, shift, card, < Smile >.  I cut it at 4 1/2" out of Olive cardstock as well as some of the designer paper from the Stella paper pack.

For the other elements of the card I used Elmo's Party Cricut cartridge. The balloons can be found on page 51, C4, < Balloons > cut at 1" and 3" out of Olive, Lagoon, Sunset, Black, and Sunny Yellow cardstock.  I edged the inside and outside of the card using Olive ink.  I then used some Ranger Yellow Stickles (LOVE Stickles!) on the candles to make them pop a little bit.

Okay, on to my NEXT project, which is a fun card using a couple of Cricut cartridges actually :)  First a couple of pictures:

I started out using the 50 States Cricut cartridge to cut out the great state of Texas shape using Black and Lagoon cardstock.  The shape can be found on page 55, E3, < TX > cut at 3 1/4". The card base is also Lagoon cardstock.  The background is a piece of the designer paper from the Stella paper pack.

I thought the map needed a little "somethin' somethin'" and my husband suggested a star which was perfect!  The star comes from the Close to My Heart stamp set called Love Life (D1482) and it coordinates with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.  This means that I didn't have to cut out the star shape by hand -- it coordinates with the AP cart so all I had to do was cut the image out using my handy Cricut Expression and then stamp the "star" on the shape using Sunset ink.  You can find this star on page 40, B10, shift < Star5 > cut at 1" using Colonial White cardstock.

The "WELCOME" sentiment actually comes from ANOTHER Cricut cartridge called Animal Kingdom.  You can find the image on page 107, C6, sound, < Zebra > cut at 3/4".  I used paper from the Stella pack.

Now while I LOVED the outside of my card, I wanted to do something different on the inside.  I decided to make the card a "Pedestal Pop-Up Card".  I found a great tutorial on Splitcoaststampers, click here to go to it.  Now, I needed something to "pop up".  Since this card was all about Texas, I immediately thought of a cowboy hat!  This hat can be found on the Yee-Haw Cricut cartridge - C3, < Hat > cut at 3 1/4".  I used Chocolate and Black cardstock and the band is from the Stella paper pack.

Finally, I thought the card needed a sentiment.  I used the "Live Out Loud" image from the July Stamp of the Month from Close to My Heart with the same name.  I stamped it using a Lagoon ink pad.  I also edged the outside matte of the card with Lagoon ink.

I've actually decided to make this card one of my "swap" cards for Convention so I now have 30 of them sitting on my craftroom table!

I hope you enjoyed these projects!  As you can see, I went a little overboard and instead of using only 3 Cricut cartridges, I actually used 6 - a little bit of an overachiever I guess!  I hadn't planned on using that many carts but that's how it turned out.
