Watermelons and Picnics

This is the Watermelons and Picnic blog hop where we have lots of creative things to express our love of summer and picnics and watermelon. Please start at Lorby's World, our hostesses' blog and continue from there.

Jearise in Lorby's World will be giving out a special prize to one special winner just for leaving a comment and becoming a follower of her blog.

So grab your family, friends and neighbors and let's go on a picnic...

When I heard our theme for this hop - I immediately thought "Use watermelons".   I hadn't made a child's card in a loooong time so I decided to make it a "joke" card!  I Googled "watermelon jokes" and found a cute one to use for the card.

Here's the joke:

"Why do watermelons have fancy weddings?

"Because they cantaloupe!"

Get it?  Ha!

For this A2 sized card, I used a brand new paper from Close to My Heart called Moonlight.  The first matte was cut at 4" x 5 1/4" and the second layer was cut at 3 3/4" x 5".  I used two Cricut cartridges for this card:  Simply Charmed and our new, exclusive Artiste!

The watermelons came from Simply Charmed and can be found on page 46, B9, Layers 1, 2, 3, and 4 < Wtrmln1 > cut at 1".

The speech bubble was cut using our Artiste cartridge.  This image can be found on page 65, D5, Accent 2 < b > cut at 2".  I edged each bubble with Sweet Leaf ink.

Thank you for joining me on our picnic and I hope you have room for more watermelon at Miriam's picnic by clicking here.
