Today at our "Card a Day" blog, our theme is "Christmas Around the World". I chose a country close to my heart - "Croatia". Why you ask? Well that's where my family comes from!
Christmas Day is traditionally spent with family or at church. Traditionally, Croatians also decorate wreaths and trees and they use hand-decorated cookies to do it!
So for my card I used the colors of the Croatian flag - red, white, and blue and then added some "hand-decorated" cookies to the bottom of the card. The sentiment (and title of this blog post) is "Sretan Bojic" which means "Merry Christmas". Here's a picture of my card:
Since the colors of the Croatian flag are the same as the U.S. flag, I didn't want to use the same shades of red, white, and blue. I decided to use our Pear and Partridge and Avonlea paper packs and coordinating colors. The card shape comes from our Artiste Cricut cartridge. It can be found on page 45, B5, Card, < t > cut at 5". The sentiment "Sretan Bozic" was stamped on another image from the Artiste cartridge: page 66, D6, Shift, Accent 3, < N > cut at 3/4" and 1". I used "A Typeface" stamp set. The pennants came from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. They were on page 68, E8, < Banner1 > cut at 1/14" x 3 1/4" using the Fit to Length key. Finally, the cookies were cut using the Elmo & Friends Holiday Cricut cartridge - page 58, D8, Shift, Layer 1, < CkMtr6-s > cut at 7 3/4" and 8 1/2". I used some of our Glitz Glitter Glue on the top of the cookies to give them a little extra "bling" and bring the "hand-decorated" look to the cookies. I then used Cranberry ink to stamp the image and edge the card.
