Welcome to the Krazy Crafting Crew's February Blog Hop!
This month we are working with Sketches and we have 2 hosts: Lissa Marie and co-host Card Monkey's Paper Jungle.
You should have arrived here from Lisa's blog at Handmade with Love -
if not head to Lissa Marie's blog at So Many Crafts to make sure you don't miss anything.
We were given 2 sketches to chose to use for our creation which were provided by Lissa Marie.
I waffled back and forth about which to do: the 12 x 12 scrapbook layout or the card. I chose ... the card sketch!
When I saw the sketch I initially was going to make my card "girly" and then I decided to challenge myself to make it more "masculine."
I made these cards using a brand new paper pack from Close to My Heart called "Later Sk8r". It's an A2 size card with White cardstock as the base. I cut the 2 strips at 1 1/2" x 5 1/4" and 2" x 5 1/4". The white piece of cardstock was cut at 3"x 3 1/2".
I used our Artiste Cricut cartridge to cut the gears for the card:
Gears: page 39, A9, Shift, Accent 3, < ( ) > cut at 1", 1 1/2", and 2 3/4"
Gears: page 39, A9, Accent 4, < ( ) > cut at 1 1/2"
I used our Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to cut the circle and the banner where I stamped the sentiment with Lagoon ink:
Circle: page 21, A1, < Circle1 > cut at 1 1/2"
Banner: page 68, E8, < Banner1 > cut at 3"
I used Pear ink for the circle underneath one of the gears. I randomly stamped the Lagoon colored gears with an image from our Perfect Fit - Frames 2 stamp set. The sentiment "Happy Birthday" came from our Just a Number stamp set.

Good idea make it an opportunity to make a masculine card, we always get stuck when it comes time to make the forbidden card, lol..

VERY nicely done, Lucy -- I too am always challenged when it comes to making masculine cards. The new Later Sk8r papers are perfect -- love the gears idea, too. Thank you for joining in on the Sketch Challenge Blog Hop!

ReplyDeleteGreat masculine card. I never make masculine cards until I need it and then I'm trying to think of something at the last minute. I think that will be my crafting challenge this year, have a stash of male appropriate cards on hand! Thanks for the inspiration
