Pinwheel

Welcome to our May Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  This month's stamp from Close to My Heart is "Pinwheel" and is available exclusively through your Close to My Heart consultant from May 1 - 31, 2013.  You can purchase this stamp set for only $5 with a qualifying purchase.

I was at Staples last week and as I always do, I stopped at the clearance section. They always have such amazing deals there if you take the time to look.  I found a box of 50 envelopes measuring 5 3/4" x 8 3/4" for only $3!  Only 6 cents an envelope -- that's a deal I couldn't pass up!  So for my project I made an oversized card measuring 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" using our May Stamp of the Month and our exclusive Dream Pop paper that is only available until the end of this month:

I just LOVE the colors in this paper pack - they are so vibrant and cheery!  The card measures 5 1/2" x  8 1/2" and fits perfectly in my new envelopes.  What's really neat about the Pinwheel stamp set is that several of the images coordinate with our Artiste Cricut cartridge.  That means I did NOT have to fussy cut (hand cut) my pinwheels.  You can find the images for the Pinwheels on page 50 of the Artiste booklet:  B10, Accent 1, < p > and B10, Shift, Accent 1, < P > cut at 2". Now just so you know, even though I cut the smaller pinwheel image with the Artiste, it really doesn't fit perfectly.  I just decided to use it that way.  I thought it worked well.

Some of the coordinating colors with Dream Pop are Cotton Candy, Honey, and Sunset so I used those inks to stamp some of the pinwheel images.  I used Cotton Candy for the sentiment as well.

For the sentiment I used an image on page 36 of the Artiste: A6, Accent 3, < 6 > cut at 1 1/2" and 1 3/4".  The border across is one of the zip strip tops of the Dream Pop paper

Now another cool find at Staples were the straws I used.  You heard me, I found straws at Staples for $1 - they were a pack of 25.  How random is that???  I used them for the stems of the pinwheels - I just cut them in half and flattened them on the card.  I adhered them with some of our 3D Foam Tape.

I finished the pinwheels off by adding some Sparkles to the center to give them a little extra bling.
