Designer's Choice: Birthday
This week at Card-a-Day blog, the designers got to choose the theme of their cards -- how fun!
Well I'm always in need of birthday cards and this week was no different. I just couldn't find one that would work, so I whipped this one up:
I just love pink and green together - don't you?
This is an A2 size card measuring 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I used our Chantilly paper pack because it has those colors in it. The little flower strip behind the cupcake is actually the "zip strip" from the top of one of the pages.
I used the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to cut out my circle, scalloped circle, and the frame for the cupcake image. The sentiment "Happy Birthday" came from our Perfect Fit - Birthday stamp set. What I love about our acrylix stamps is that you can not only shape them but you can cut them! This sentiment was originally one piece - the sentiment was on one line. Well, one day I wanted to use the sentiment but it was too long for where I wanted to stamp it. Sooooo, I carefully cut the 2 words in half! Now, I can use them together, I can put them on 2 different lines, I can even use them separately. How cool is that?!?!
The little cupcake came from our Pun Fun stamp set. Now there was a sentiment below the cupcake but I didn't want to use it, so I used a post-it to cover up the sentiment when I inked it up. I used Cotton Candy and Pear ink to color the cupcake in. Finally the frame behind the cupcake came from our Perfect Fit - Frames stamp set which coordinates with the Art Philosophy. This means that I didn't have to fussy cut the image! Love, love, love that!
