Ready to join in the fun?

I don't know about you, but when I think of "Red, White, and Blue", my first thoughts go to our military.  That is what inspired me to make this card:

Front of Card

Inside of Card

This card measures 5" x 5".  I cut it using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. This cartridge has 100 card shapes on it!  This one can be found on page 33, B3, Card, < Square2 >.  I also used this cartridge to cut the next layers on the inside and outside of the card.  The scalloped square can be found on page 33, C3, < Square2 > cut at 4".  The rounded square can be found on page 23, A3, < Square1 > and was cut at 3 3/4" and 4 1/2".

I used 2 stamp sets that are only available this month:  Home of the Brave and Courage. These stamp sets can be purchased only through the end of the month - July 31, 2013 as part of our "Let's Get Patriotic" campaign.  Close to My Heart is donating $3.00 from the Courage stamp set to the USO and $5.00 from the Home of the Brave stamp set as well. I just LOVE this company!

Courage

Home of the Brave

I stamped the flag on the front of the card using a technique called "second generation stamping" which means that you ink up your image, stamp "off" the page once, and then stamp "on" your page a second time without re-inking.  You get a "faded" image.   I then took the "first generation" of the stamped image, fussy cut it, and adhered it to the inside of the card.  (I just hate wasting things, don't you?)

For the stars on the right side of the inside of the card, I used a technique called "variegated stamping".  For an explanation of how to do this, please click here for a prior post I created explaining the technique.

  14. Lucy, I love your card! Just everything about it. The use of the first generation image is awesome. (I too don't like to waste things-but it truly fits the card perfectly!) I appreciate your explanation of how you did the card as well.
