... we ALL scream for Ice Cream!! Yup -- it's summertime and just about everybody is eating ice cream to cool off (and it helps that it tastes so yummy!)
I'm happy to announce that I am back on the Design Team for the Heart 2 Heart Close to My Heart Challenge blog!! Woohoo!! I had so much fun the first time ... well, here I am again!
For this week's challenge or theme - we were to create something to do with - you guessed it -- ICE CREAM!
I have been racking my brain trying to come up with something different from the cards I usually make. First I thought - banner -- then nixed that. Then I thought of some kind of mini-album. I had an idea of how to make the shape of an ice cream cone but was trying to figure out how to make it into an album. THEN, I saw an issue of "Scrapbook & Cards Today" and started looking through it. Still not inspired, I decided to check out their website/blog and VOILA! I found an easy way to make the ice cream cone mini album! Woohoo -- don't you just love it when a plan comes together??? Here's the link on how the made it: Scrapbook and Cards Today.
First, let me show you the album I made:
Cool right??? No pun intended :)
So though I really appreciated the tutorial, I thought I would make it "my" way. Soooo, I cut an 11" circle using my Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge using the Fit to Page key. the circle is on page 21, A1, < Circle1 >. I used plain White cardstock for the base. This way I knew I would have a perfect circle. I folded the 11" circle in half and then in half again and again. I used our Bone Folder to help crease the edges and get a good fold. I then cut the "cones" using our Kraft cardstock because I thought the color and texture were perfect. I cut the cones using the Art Philosophy. The front scalloped cone is on page 59, D9, < Banner5 > and was cut at 5" using the Real Dial Size key. The other "cones" can be found on page 49, C9, < Banner4 > also cut at 5" using the Real Dial Size key. Now just so you know, because of the texture of the Kraft cardstock, I also had to use the "multi-cut" key on my Expression - otherwise it wouldn't cut deep enough. I used a Cuttlebuy embossing folder to texturize (is that a word? If not, guess I made up a new one!) to make the cones look more authentic. Unfortunately I have no idea the name of the folder - Cuttlebug really needs to add the names to them.
I used our pretty and colorful Chantilly paper pack to cut the ice cream scoops. These scoops are actually clouds cut using our Artiste Cricut cartridge and can be found on page 70, D10, Accent 2, < HppyBday > cut at 1 3/4" x 3 1/2", 2 1/4" x 4 1/2", and 2 1/2" x 5" using the Fit to Length key. I stamped the swirls on the bottom cone made using an image in our Love Life stamp set. The cherry image was cut out using the Artiste and Ruby cardstock - page 70, D10, Shift, Accent 3, < HppyBday > cut at 1". I also stamped swirls on this image.
Finally, the title "Party Time" came from our brand new Artbooking Cricut cartridge!! Love, love, LOVE this new cartridge. Am having so much fun playing with it! The title was cut at 2 1/2" using the Real Dial Size key.
Now for the inside, I actually have a couple of different ideas and started to create them BUT I couldn't decide which idea I liked the most so I didn't take pictures yet. (Also, because neither idea was completed!) One was to make this a dessert recipe book. Our small Flip Flaps fit perfectly in this mini album and would hold the title of the recipe while the recipe would fit on the cone. Another idea was to make this for party photos - especially a summer or birthday party. The flip flaps could then hold small pictures or sentiments -- you get the idea!
