It's a Brown Paper Bag ?!?!?

Good Morning Everyone!

Our challenge this week at Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog was to use a brown paper bag with string.  Hmmm ... interesting ... as Barney from How I Met Your Mother would say ... "Challenge accepted!"

I took a brown lunch bag and mad this cute little Halloween treat bag!  Here are some more pics:

So here's what I did.  I took a brown lunch bag and cut it vertically at 6".

I am actually saving the part I cut off for a mini album ... more on that later this month.

I then cut out some black cardstock at 5 1/4" x 6 1/4" to place on either side of the bag.  I used some white Scor-pal tape to adhere it.

Now the reason I put the tape on the bag INSTEAD of the black cardstock is because the cardstock was cut larger than the bag.

I then took out my fantastic Artbooking Cricut cartridge to cut the spider web overlay for the background.  You can find the overlay on page 70, D3, Overlay, < c > cut at 5" using the Real Dial Size Key.

As you can see, I decided to edge or distress the spider web overlay with black ink to give it some added dimension and to make it "spookier". I then added the title "Spooky" cut from the same page of the Cricut cartridge at 2 3/4". The cat and the moon were stamped images from the Eek and Shriek stamp set which coordinates with the Artbooking cartridge which made it SO easy to add to my bag.

Below are two pictures of the sides of the bag.  As you can see, the brown paper bag can be seen.

Now that's not really a bad thing BUT I wanted to see what it would like like if I added Black cardstock to the sides.  It just added a little extra something to the bag I thought.

I then took some Twill Ribbon and cut it at 12" to make the handle of the bag.  I attached the "handle" with our Liquid Glass.

The Liquid Glass really keeps the ribbon on the bag.

  1. What a cute little treat bag, I'll have to do this for the grandkids thanks

  2. This is fabulous. We have a Halloween gathering for the children and I'm going to have to scraplift this idea, if you don't mind, Lucy. I think I've even seen black lunch type bags somewhere (saves a step or two or three). TFS

  3. Love your Cute Halloween Bag. You sure can't tell that you started with a brown paper sack.:0)

  4. What an adorable bag and an awesome idea!!!! TFS

  5. I'm using orange lunch bags, but I just love your idea of cutting them down in size and adding a "handle."
